Welcome to week nine of the What's Your Word series. There are three weeks remaining until we transition to a new series. It is our hope and prayer this current series has blessed you. If there have been any notable things that've taken place in your relationship with God and with others because of a specific episode, we would very much love to hear about it. This Week's Podcast
This week’s word, Simple Obedience, was sent in by Robyn. Obedience is one of those words that can sound harsh and demanding, depending on your upbringing and life experiences. After all, even the dictionary definition is “the quality or state of being obedient”, to to be obedient means to be “submissive to the restraint or command of authority : willing to obey”
Yet, with God, simple obedience is much more than merely obeying. He always seems to turn things upside down on its head. What if obedience, as God sees it, is less about duty and more about delight? Is obedience simply a loving response to God?
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
Loving me empowers you to obey my commands.
Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, and to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.
Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams."
Blessed are those who hear the word of God, and follow it.
Yes, but God will bless all who listen to the word of God and carefully obey everything they hear.
Reflection
If obedience feels difficult, how would your perspective change if you viewed it as an act of love?
Is there any area where God is calling you into simple obedience?
Is there an area where God has already called you to simple obedience? perhaps an area you’ve forgotten about.
Ask God today for one small act of obedience that He is calling you to this week.

A Daily Declaration
Loving God, I follow your ways.
Blessings!
Sometimes we try to make up for our disobedience with good works, but God simply desires a “yes” to His voice. To be moved by love and not merely by duty or obligation. We bless you this week to be motivated by God’s immense love for you. When you look in the mirror, may you see the object of His affection staring back at you. He loves you so much, he sacrificed his only son in your place, just so he could have you back in his arms. You are that valuable to Him.
May you know God’s everlasting love this week as you practice simple obedience.
