This is week eleven of our twelve week series called What's Your Word? One more episode to go and then we transition to our new series. These are words God has given some of you as an intention or focus for 2025. Whether they’re your words or not, we hope you have found something to cling to from them. Each has been filled with the truth, hope, and joy of God, which has certainly blessed us. Enjoy this week’s word, edifying.
This Week's Podcast
This week’s word, edifying, was sent in by Jenny. Thanks so much for sharing your word with us!
To edify is to uplift one another in love, truth, and faith. It is building up, just like building a home. You lay a firm foundation for one to stand on. You erect walls and add a roof to create a safe, comfortable environment. Just as a master craftsman builds a home with its future residents in mind, when we choose to speak words that are edifying, we do so with the other person in mind. God calls us to be mindful of how we treat those around us. Not seeking our own benefit, but lifting others up for their good.
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
Reflection
Is there someone God is putting on your heart, to encourage, build up, and edify?
Do the words that come out of your mouth edify those who are around you? Do they build up? Do they strengthen? Do they encourage in faith?
Ask God to show you anywhere you have been tearing down instead of building up. For him to give you the strength and grace to turn from these, becoming a vessel of edification for him to pour out into the lives of those around you.

A Daily Declaration
God, make me a vessel of edification. Help me to build up and not tear down.
Blessings!
May your mind, your heart, and all your actions reflect the love of Christ. As you stand on a foundation of love, may this be the place from which you speak edifying words, helping those around you step into the greater levels of character and blessing God has for them. We bless you to know that you are a source of hope and inspiration for others, leading them to Christ.
